Richard Matovu, Ph.D.

I am currently an Associate Professor of Cybersecurity at Gannon University. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas Tech University in 2020.

My research and teaching broadly revolve around cybersecurity, privacy, mobile computing and machine learning. My work mainly leverages statistical analysis, machine learning and deep learning techniques to study end-user security and privacy threats on mobile computing technologies (e.g., smartphones, wearables, head-mounted and IoT devices).

My most recent research work has focused on mobile and wearable security, particularly behavioral biometrics, detection and mitigation of security and privacy threats on mobile devices. I am also currently engaging in virtual reality (VR), healthcare, and cyberlearning research.
